Sarah Palin To Visit Iowa For Biography Premiere

Sarah Palin undefeatedSarah Palin will travel to the early caucus state of Iowa on Tuesday for the premiere of a documentary about the former Alaska governor and possible White House candidate, the film’s makers announced in a statement Saturday.

“The Undefeated,” which was written and directed by Stephen K. Bannon, “chronicles Sarah Palin’s rise from obscurity to national prominence,” the statement said.

Palin was not directly involved in making the documentary, but she has seen a rough cut of the movie, which is widely reported to be very flattering.

Following the 5:00pm screening at an opera house in Pella, Iowa, the film’s makers will host a “traditional Iowa cookout” for residents of the town, which is roughly 43 miles (72 km) southeast of Des Moines.

“We are very excited to visit historic Pella and its opera house and look forward to seeing the finished film for the first time with fellow Americans from the heartland,” Palin said in a statement released by the film’s producer.

She will attend the premiere with her husband, Todd, the statement said.

The 2008 vice presidential candidate has continued to keep the country guessing about her plans for a possible run for the White House in 2012. On Wednesday, Palin denied reports that her “One Nation” bus tour was ending, saying it is only on hold while she serves jury duty in Alaska.

Palin will be in Iowa on the same day as President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to make his first visit to Iowa of the 2012 campaign season on Tuesday. He will speak 150 miles (240 km) east of Pella in Bettendorf, Iowa.

One day earlier, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) will formally announce her campaign for the White House Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, 100 miles (160 km) northeast of Pella.

“The Undefeated” will open July 15 in ten cities, including Dallas, Kansas City and Phoenix, where Palin recently bought a home. The film’s makers plan to release the documentary in additional markets nationwide at a later date.

According to Politico, Bannon has said he plans to screen the film in other early primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolina before its July 15 release.
